Socomec's MODULYS XL is a 200kVA power module-based modular UPS. A single UPS unit's output can be increased to 1200kVA, and the system can accommodate up to four parallel units. MODULYS XL UPS configurations are built on three standard bricks to simplify installation, and repeatable and standardised assets fulfil many configuration and architectural requirements. An adjustable number of unoccupied power slots accommodates various scalability and redundancy requirements. Complete customization of UPS is possible without changing the core standard bricks, and the quality and simplicity of the construction make it easy to use.

The insertion or removal of a power module by a single person takes no more than five minutes, and power module plug-in is both safe and easy, requiring no power or communication bus wiring. During the power extension or module switch, the load is fully protected in double-conversion mode, and the hot-scale and swap procedure in 200kVA increments lowers the time and optimises costs. Power module self-configuration and testing are automatic before connection; firmware is auto-aligned; no installation rework is necessary when a new capacity is added, and an unpowered power module connection eliminates electrical arcing during plug-in and plug-out.

Specific engineering avoids unanticipated installation faults, the power slot setting is simple, and even on uneven floors, alignment is excellent. Power slots are pre-engineered with integrated bus bars for quick, simple, and clean interconnections, and the UPS can be installed with full frontal access so it can be installed flush against a wall. During the installation phase, power slots are prepared for future hot plug-in power modules. Power modules are easy and safe to work with, and a full system heat-run test can be done during commissioning without the need for an external load bench.

Maintenance is concurrent and risk-free due to the accessibility of risk-free power module maintenance outside of the operating system. Both the power modules and the static bypass can be maintained while the load remains fully protected in double conversion mode, and no in-situ maintenance, servicing, or repairs that could compromise the operation of the system are necessary. Power modules and subassemblies are completely extractable, and all components are fully accessible, reducing MTTR. There are built-in means to conduct a comprehensive pre-test following module maintenance.
