A Powerful Partnership
Secure Power recently joined forces with one of its backup power manufacturing partners Socomec to help deliver a fully resilient power protection solution for an East Ridings police station.
For nearly a century, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) manufacturer, Socomec has been providing innovative emergency power solutions to ensure the performance of critical electrical installations. Recognised for its cutting-edge technologies, the Police force selected Socomec to provide a UPS system for their purpose-built control centre in Hull.
About The Centre
The centre houses departmental offices, a conference suite, training facilities and specialist services. As with all emergency services environments, any UPS system installed would need to provide complete reliability and the highest levels of protection available.
Working alongside Socomec and SES Engineering Services, the site contractor, Secure Power was enlisted to provide a range of battery services. The project required the provision of a suitable DC/battery system to support the UPS installation. Following a detailed analysis of the client’s needs, Secure Power installed over 800 Exide XP12V3000 batteries (weighing approx. 33kg each).
Over a three week period, Secure Power installed a number of DC panels, four open battery stands and the population of 840 x 12 volt batteries, weighing approximately 30 tonnes in total. All cabling and linking works for the battery installation were also undertaken by Secure Power.
The joint initiative proved extremely successful with both Secure Power and Socomec receiving excellent feedback from all parties onsite; including the contractor and the East Riding facility.
